Alexandre-Amir Aalam, DDS (USA)
Dr. Aalam graduated with a DDS degree from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, Nice (France), and specialized in Advanced Periodontics at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Dr. Aalam is a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral Implantology. He was the 2002 and 2004 award recipient for both the French and the California Society of Periodontology for his outstanding periodontal graduate student research contribution in the field of implantology. Dr. Aalam is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. Sillas Duarte, Jr., DDS, PhD (USA)
Dr. Duarte is a Visiting Associate Professor in the Division of Restorative Sciences, at the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. He is the editor-in-chief of Quintessence of Dental Technology (QDT), serves on the editorial boards of several journals, and has published nationally and internationally on esthetic dentistry and adhesion. He has been involved in teaching cutting edge clinical techniques and technologies related to esthetic and adhesive dentistry. His researches focus on bonding to dental structures, composites, and ceramics. His scientific work has been supported by governmental and commercial grants and he serves as a consultant for several manufacturers. Additionally, he has lectured and performed hands-on courses both nationally and internationally on esthetic dentistry and adhesion.

Van B. Haywood, DMD (USA)
Dr. Haywood is Professor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation, College of Dental Medicine, Georgia Health Sciences University, and Director of Dental Continuing Education. In 1989, he co-authored the first publication in the world on Nightguard vital bleaching (at-home bleaching) with Dr. Heymann, and in 1997 co-authored the first article on extended treatment (six-months) of tetracycline-stained teeth using this technique. He has completed further research and over 135 publications on the NGVB technique and the topic of bleaching and esthetics, including first papers on treating bleaching sensitivity with potassium nitrate, direct thermoplastic tray fabrication, bleaching primary teeth, and caries control with bleaching materials. His book titled “Tooth Whitening: Indications and Outcomes of Nightguard Vital Bleaching”, was published by Quintessence International in 2007.

Edward A. McLaren, DDS, MDC (USA)
Dr. McLaren received his D.D.S. from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and his specialty certificate in Prosthodontics from UCLA School of Dentistry. He is a Professor in the Biomaterials and Advanced Prosthodontic department at UCLA. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the University of Oregon Dental School. Dr. McLaren maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics and esthetic dentistry. He is the director of the UCLA Center for Esthetic Dentistry and founder/director of the UCLA Master Dental Ceramist program. Dr. McLaren is actively involved in prosthodontic and materials research and has authored many articles. He has presented numerous lectures, hands-on clinics, and postgraduate courses on ceramics and esthetics across the nation and internationally.

Jin Ho Phark, DMD (USA)
Dr. Phark graduated from the Humboldt University Dental School in Berlin Germany, where he received his doctorate degree. He is an assistant professor in the Division of Restorative Sciences at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of University of Southern California, where he is also the Director of the Dental Biomaterials Research Laboratory. He is associate editor of Quintessence of Dental Technology. Dr. Phark has been serving as reviewer for several journals, and has lectured and published nationally and internationally. He is author of several journal articles and book chapters. Dr Phark’s main interest is in the field of biomaterials, especially on ceramics, composites, and bonding to dental structures. Recently, he had won the IADR Arthur Frechette Award in Prosthodontics.

Sanjay Sethi, BDS (United Kingdom)
Dr. Sethi qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1993 with BDS. He is in private practice in London and has a special interest in aesthetics and implants in dentistry. He is an international lecturer and has founded and coordinates the London Dentology Study Club. He is a full member and the current scientific chairman for the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and is also a member of the BDA, ADI and an affiliate member of the EAED.

Junji Tagami, DDS, PhD (Japan)
Dr. Tagami received his DDS degree in 1980, and Ph.D. degree in 1984, from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU). In 1984, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Operative Dentistry, TMDU. He continued his research activity abroad with Professor David Pashley at Medical College of Georgia during the period from 1987 to 1988. Currently, Dr. Tagami is Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Dean of Graduate School at Tokyo Medical and Dental University. His primary research interest involves studies related to the adhesion of restorative materials to tooth substance and dental materials within the broad area of adhesive dentistry and cariology. His research work has been published in more than 300 international and national peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Tagami has contributed to the development of many innovative adhesive materials including the self etching primer. He has the longest experience of using the self-etching primer in the clinic and in his research.

David Tobia, MA, PhD (USA)
Dr. David Tobia received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1987. Upon graduation, he joined the Kerr Dental Material Research Center as a Staff Scientist responsible for development of novel dental composites. In this capacity, Dr. Tobia acted as the Principle Scientist for Herculite XRV and Prodigy restorative composites. He has also collaborated on development of adhesives, color modifiers, and surface sealants. Today, Dr. Tobia is the Vice President of Research & Development for Kerr Corporation. In this capacity, he has oversight for design and development for all chemical products, from concept to market. Dr. Tobia has led numerous discussion forums on dental material science and has authored or co-authored presentations at American and International Dental Research Association meetings.

Eric Van Dooren, DDS (Belgium)
Dr. Van Dooren attended the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where he received his dentistry degree in 1982. After graduating, he opened a private practice in Antwerp, Belgium, which is limited to periodontics, fixed prosthodontics, and implants. Currently, Dr. Van Dooren is an active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. In addition, he is a member of the editorial staff of Teamwork (Germany) and a member of the Belgian Dental Society. Dr. Van Dooren lectures nationally and internationally, mainly on esthetics, implants, and esthetic periodontal surgery. He has published several articles in international journals and is co-author of The Art of the Smile.
